The doctor just called; almost 3pm central time. It appears all went well and she is fine. The surgeon said that the skin was a bit “tight” at the surgery site and it is imperative that when I get her home that she does not move around or “chew on herself”. She also said to let her know immediately if the wound weeps excessively or there seems to be any problems. The “front desk” reception lady told me this morning that they usually only keep dogs overnight. She said it is usually only “big dogs” that have to stay for 2. Freckles may be he exception to that rule… I have my own doctor’s appointment at the VA tomorrow morning. The surgeon told me to call the office when I get home and she will assess if Freckles is ready to come home or needs to stay over another night. At this point I am just glad to hear she is alright. Again…Huge thanks to all of you for your support. More when I get her home.
YAAAAAAAAAY FOR FRECKLES!!! I know you are sooo relieved!!!
You get some good rest tonight, okay? Freckles will be seeing pink elephants and enjoying the ride!
Yeah, keeping her very quiet and just goi g out for pottey breaks is all she should be doing for at least the first week, if not two.
The vet will load you up with instructions, plus we are all right here for you.
Good luck to YOU on your appointment too!
We’re all sending positive energy to you and Freckles both!!
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Surgery done- that’s great! I brought Maggie home the day after and it went alright. One more night would have been OK too. Be sure when the tell you the pathology report you get the mitotic index as well as the grade and stage of the tumor. The MI can be a better indicator of how aggressive the mast cell cancer is than the grade.
But most important now is to get Freckles home and on the road to recovery! Be sure to hop over to the forums if you have questions during recovery.
Wooooohoo! We’re glad she’s doing well and over the surgery hump. And I agree, one more night would be OK, and restful for you both.
Didn’t know you were a vet, thank you for your service!
